BITOLA<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Guzuer Bajram<\/span><\/span><\/a>!! I couldnt of planned my trip to\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Bitola<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0any better, even though it just fell into place. I happen to be in my mothers home town on this festival occasion.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

First port of call was to visit the cemetery. I’ve never seen anything like it, the place was packed<\/a><\/strong><\/em>,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>people<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>cars<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0clogged the dirt roads leading into the cemetery.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

We bumped into my Yengye Mazez’s nephew\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Orhan<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>, his brother Yusuf and other family members. Orhan just happened to be a taxi driver, who asked how I was getting back to Korce, I was looking for a way back into Albania. Synchronicity on the way in and out of Macedonia!<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

There lots of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Gypsy<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0(Roms) people there, I didnt realise there were many Gypsy Musilms. I hadn’t seen many whilst in Bitola. I noticed the wild and wacky looking\u00a0<\/span><\/span>vehicle<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0that had buzz saws perched on the front of the vehicle. It was like the Buzzwagon in\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Wacky Races<\/span><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Whilst at the cemetery\u00a0<\/span><\/span>we<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0visited\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Zenel<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>, Dai Kemal, Dai Kenan and Bukana Sadie (Firdes’ mum)\u00a0<\/span><\/span>graves<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to pay respects.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

After that we went to another much older\u00a0<\/span><\/span>cemetery<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to see Bukebaba (Firdes’ dad) Husen grave. Visiting all the graves wasnt a somber affair really, thankfully, there was much respect in the air.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

From their Zinka, Erdzan, Benjamin, Gevdet, Nevsat, Sebajdin and I went to have\u00a0<\/span><\/span>coffee<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>lollies<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0at a caf\u00e9\u00a0in the Bitola\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Town Square<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

After coffee we visited Firdes’ sister\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Mirem<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and her husband Ramiz.\u00a0We then visited Gevdat’s house. He was asleep but we met his mother and wife.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

On the way home we also passed a\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Gami<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0that my cousin Nevrous had\u00a0<\/span><\/span>lived<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0in 20 years ago with his wife and kids.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

When we got home we rested in the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>back yard<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0then\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Nevsat<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0tended to his pigeons. I sat there thinking how much he reminded of my Dai Jusuf doing the same thing many years ago. I also took photo’s of Shermin’s window sill which was full of\u00a0<\/span><\/span>beautiful<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>flowers<\/span><\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Gevat<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>, Lule (Fatime’s sister), their children\u00a0Lirim and Adelina\u00a0came by to wish everyone a happy Bajram.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Then we ate some\u00a0<\/span><\/span>yummy<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Baklava<\/span><\/span><\/a>\u00a0and Luklor that\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Shermin<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and Fatime made. It was so\u00a0<\/span><\/span>delicious<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>! Even tried to read our\u00a0<\/span><\/span>coffee<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0cups. It seemed like everyone could do it. We all sat around to make a Skype call to mum in hospital. Zenep and Jeff were there to. It was to re-connect with family back home. I missed mum a lot and felt relieved to know she was OK and that Jeff and Zenep were with her.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Later that evening I was on my phone\/net, I came downstairs and sat under porch to rest, I met\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Gulten’s<\/span><\/span><\/b><\/a><\/strong>\u00a0husband Njazi (a policeman) and his family. Very friendly people.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

After that I went straight to bed as once again, like every other day I was worn out.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
